Decodables Parent Pack
A literacy starter pack for parents
Our new Parent Pack is designed to help parents support their children on their literacy journey. Many parents are still trying to grasp the concept of structured literacy and how they can best help their children. This Parent Pack will help parents of pre-schoolers to prepare for school, will assist parents of children learning to read in their first year of school, and help prevent that ‘summer slide’ often seen in beginner readers over long holidays.
Our Parent Pack contains:
31 Sound Cards – double-sided flashcards showing the sound being learned on one side (e.g. ‘m’), and on the other side, the upper and lower case letters along with an image that starts with the relevant sound
160 Word Cards – double-sided flashcards showing decodable words on one side; on the reverse side is the same word along with sound buttons to support children to identify the individual sounds
30 decodable books – to read once sounds and letters have been learned
We have other resources for parents that will assist with learning, including phonics manipulatives, which are hands-on learning tools, and Sunshine Online, a digital programme containing decodable and levelled books.
We also have many free downloadable resources that you can use with our Parent Pack to make learning even more fun and more effective.
